I recently had a stop over in Port Pirie for bussiness and was staying close to the Solomontown footy club. I called in for a couple of ales and stayed for about 4 hours. The guys there were very friendly and we all ended up reminiscing about old times in different parts of the country that we come from. I recommend that if you are travelling through Pirie call in at the club rooms and say G'Day.
Also I saw what I assumed to be there home ground and asked if it was (it was a ground that a lot of country clubs would kill for)They said that it used to be but the league now make them play all there games at a central ground.which meant that the league gets the gate takings and local clubs lose out on a valuable source of income. Local footy teams are having a hard enough time without extra funds being taken away from them.
