Never mind, its all covered in release 5.2, which is now available.

5.1 enabled scores other than fixture matches to be saved without upsetting the ladder. When you look at scores now (whether within the game or by opening the txt file), it will differentiate fixture scores from others, by placing a carat (^) before each non-fixture score. The ladder process will ignore these when forming the ladder for display.

This means you can now play scratch matches and save the results halfway through a fixtured season, without upsetting the ladder.

Of course, you never saw 5.1, I didn't upload it to the downloads page. But those changes are incorporated in version 5.2.

5.2 causes a txt file of the ladder to be saved whenever you choose to view the ladder within the game! Neat, huh? :smokin
